Ruff Majik’s infused tinge of sophistication meets sludge rock, comes alive on their 2018 release “Seasons”, issued on vinyl by Rock Freaks Records, and on cassette tape and CD by Forbidden Place Records. Fueled by a passionate influence of the golden Black Sabbath era and words of the occult - this album makes me want to handle the music with a glass of Red and tap along with my bare feet. There’s a song for every state of mind, every occasion and every season. Johni, Jimi and Benni - the artists behind the canvas - have managed to create a labyrinth of pure musical bliss. It would be a sin not to hear Ruff Majik at their finest.

While the band is undoubtedly indebted to the heavy stoner rock sound of the 90's, they also have a distinctive laid back vibe that make they more than a replica of Kyuss or Fu Manchu. In fact, they delve into psychedelia more than the aforementioned bands did. There are also more heavy metal and less hardcore punk influences in their sound. The bass guitar is quite heavy in the mix and in the forefront in a way that reminds me of groove metal at times. European sound all the way. Great stuff! David Yvinec

Reach for this if you're in the mood for some bluesy rock and roll with a Beck-like groove. Reminds me of beloved Boston garage rockers Viva Viva. The Crazy Horse-ish, Zeppelinesque hard ballad The Sea is worth the price of admission. citysavage
